faq’s about our methods against madness…

Q: how do we connect?

A: Check on the tab labeled “where we connect” at the top of this page or email 21pinesrec@gmail.com. Please indicate in your message whether you are seeking therapy for yourself or your child/teen, and the best day/time to connect. Someone from our team will reach out to you within 48 hours to schedule a free 15-30 minute consultation/assessment to determine the best course of therapeutic action, which may or may not include our direct support, but always a pathway forward.

Q: where do we connect?

Appointments are available via telephone or in person at an agreed upon location. This could include your home, a local conservation area, or an alternative space where confidentiality will not be breached. From our perspective, meeting someone where they’re at translates to anywhere that feels safe for them to tell their story.

Q: what cities/regions do you work in? Am I too far away?

A: With our home base being in the outskirts of Hamilton, any adjacent territories are fair game. This includes Stoney Creek, Burlington, Waterdown, Cambridge, and Kitchener/Waterloo.

Q: Do you offer brief (singular) therapy sessions so I can connect as needed?

Yes, if a single session feels like it is all you need then we are happy to connect with you for an hour(ish). For those that seek life-changing perspectives, it is recommended that you commit to attending a series of at least 8 consecutive sessions in order to accomplish a “deep dive” into the psyche by building on former revelations.

Q: how much does therapy cost? I prefer the excuse that its too expensive…

A: In effort to make therapy financially accessible to everyone, we embrace sliding scale costs for individual therapy ranging from $30-$150 per hour.

Our therapeutic services are covered under benefit plans which reimburse RSW (Registered Social Worker) mental health services. Clients with insurance benefits can discuss a plan to maximize their 1:1 time with their practitioner, without having to pay further out of pocket expenses.

We understand how hard it is to invest it yourself when you’re struggling to level up in life, therefore please reach out to chat about opportunities for alternative energy exchanges if this aligns with you.

Q: Is this a religious organization?

A: Not at all. In order to achieve an overall balanced sense of wellness, we strive to ensure that all members receive information pertaining to their Physical, Mental, Emotional as well as Spiritual health.  While we put effort into nurturing a positive alignment with a “general purpose faith”, we do not ascribe to any organized religious doctrine, and any teachings offered to students will be grounded in evidence based theoretical models such as mindfulness, reflectivity and self-awareness. That being said, our practitioners maintain an open-knowledge stance pertaining to the concept of Spirituality, and all spectrums of belief are considered to offer valuable truths. Often referred to as “Omnism”, this organization welcomes the opportunity to learn about the Spirit world without ego, judgement or scrutiny.

Q: I am struggling with addiction(s). Can I partake during our session?

A: Generally speaking, it is not recommended to attend your therapy session under the influence of substances due to the likely lack of capacity to recall and reflect. That being said, our staff embrace a harm reduction lens that holds compassion for all stages of addiction, and therefore will not judge you for your need to engage in light substance use during session. No, your therapist will not join you :)
